This painting is inspired by parts of the woodland where I live in the UK. There are many sinuous Hornbeam trees which live along the edges of paths and bordering fields. These trees have a very fluid quality, like dancers. I wanted to look at their fluidity of form as an overlaying structure to the light pouring through leaves from the space beyond them.
My wish is for the viewer to perceive the trees shapes in silhouette while experiencing the quality of blazing light emerging from the distance.
