This painting is inspired by the effects of wooded places on natural light at different stages of day and night. The refracted light that ricochets around the trees creates wonderful, intricate patterns and shapes and the trees themselves make uniquely shaped windows to the sky in the spaces between them where the canopy opens.

Here the canopy is seen in the reflection of a flooded clearing in the woods. My wish is for the viewer to experience a sense of peering down into the water and seeing the fragmented light and shadow silhouette shapes of the tall trees reflected.

This painting is 65 x 81 cm and 2 cm in depth.

It has been made on excellent quality, acid-free, 100% thick cotton canvas which is twice gesso primed to take oil paint. The stretcher is a light weight pine wood. The paints themselves are blended with organic oils and natural glazes which are designed to last through the ages, and which keep the paint looking radiant and full of lustre.
